Emergency Department
In a medical emergency, every second counts. The Emergency Department (ED) at Jennie Stuart Health is committed to providing high-quality care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Serving more than 35,000 people annually, the Emergency Department is staffed with physicians, registered nurses and allied health personnel specifically trained in emergency health care needs.
Our Emergency Department is a sophisticated medical environment designed to manage emergencies, trauma, and resuscitation for both adults and children. An air ambulance service is available on hospital grounds.
For minor injuries and illnesses, we also offer JennieCare, where no appointment is necessary.
A highly-skilled, experienced team
At the Emergency Department, our goal is to provide consistent high-quality care efficiently in a caring environment. We have increased the number of clinicians on duty at any given time, which has shortened the time patients have to wait for treatment.
Our physicians and nurses are supported by ancillary services such as:
- Laboratory
- Radiology
- Cardiology
- General surgery
- Pharmacy
What is the process in the ED?
Upon arrival in the Emergency Department, patients will be assigned a "triage acuity level" based upon the nature of the complaint, vital signs, and the level of treatment needed. "Triage" means to evaluate and prioritize the order in which patients should be treated, to ensure that patients with the greatest medical emergency receive the most prompt care.
