Intensive Care Unit
Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is an 18-bed, state-of-the-art critical care area designed to allow constant observation by a nurse, which we implement by maintaining a strict 2:1 patient/nurse ratio. Our nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support as well as Basic Arrhythmia (heart) care.
Our unit encompasses the care of patients within the full health and illness spectrum. Each room is equipped with telemetry or hardwire electrocardiography (ECG) to measure cardiac rhythms, pulse oximetry, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring. Telemetry equipment is available for patients while ambulating, as well as those being transported for testing.
Each patient receives personalized care to enhance their well-being and to ensure proper treatment. We are dedicated to excellence in the delivery of compassionate, patient- and family-centered care, and perpetually strive to relieve suffering, maintain security, and promote health. Fundamental to this mission is our commitment that all patient visits to JSH meet and exceed expectations. We involve patients and family members to develop an appropriate plan of care in collaboration with the registered nurse, physician, social worker, pastoral care, dietician, respiratory therapist, and other ancillary care providers to address key physiological and psychosocial needs.
