People are wearing gloves (made from materials like vinyl, latex or nitryl) when they head out in public during the pandemic. While individuals think they are being safe and protecting themselves and others from the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, they may actually be spreading germs in the community. Vinyl, latex and nitryl gloves can support germs just like the skin. But, unlike skin, washing gloves is not an option. Even healthcare workers are instructed to wash their hands before they put on gloves and after taking off gloves. Gloves are not a substitute for hand washing.

Jennie Stuart Health will begin reopening service lines that were previously closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The phased reopening of services will begin May 4, 2020, and in accordance with Kentucky Public Health guidelines.
The initial phase will include resuming operations of outpatient services at the Medical Imaging Center and Express Lab on Eagle Way beginning Monday. Outpatient imaging services and scheduling of outpatient procedures at the main hospital campus started earlier this week.

Jennie Stuart Health continues to monitor and assess the COVID-19 outbreak in our community. For the safety of our patients and staff we have had to make changes in some of our services and clinics and have implemented the following temporary closures;
Our Convenient Care Clinic and the Geriatric Behavioral Health unit are closed until further notice.
The Coumadin Clinic is open at our Medical Imaging facility on Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm only.
The Wound Care Center is closed on Mondays and will continue seeing patients Tuesday – Thursday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, and 8:00 am – noon on Friday.
