Fibroid Clinic:
"Uterine fibroids are the most common pelvic tumors in females, usually arising in reproductive-age women. Fibroids are noncancerous tumors that grow on the inside, on the outside or within the wall of the uterus. Sometimes, they do not cause any symptoms and in those cases, they don’t require any treatment. Other times, they cause symptoms which could include heavy or painful menstrual bleeding, a sensation of pelvic pressure or fullness, compression of the bladder or bowels, and issues with fertility.
For those who have bothersome symptoms, multiple effective treatment options are available. Medications may be helpful to improve heavy bleeding. Some nonsurgical interventions can also decrease bleeding and shrink fibroids. Surgical therapy to remove the fibroids or uterus is sometimes the best option. The best approach to treatment varies depending on the size, the number and the location of the fibroids and your treatment goals."
Individualized Treatment:
"At the first office visit, we will review your specific situation in detail and any test results that were already done. We might suggest additional assessments and sometimes a pelvic exam would be recommended. After we gather all the necessary information, we will then discuss the treatment options with you in detail. You may benefit from medical treatment to manage fibroid symptoms, such as medications to reduce the amount of blood flow during periods or to improve pain. You might also benefit from radiologic interventional procedures to treat fibroids. In some situations, surgical treatment might be the best option for you. If surgery is the best option for you, we will discuss with you the most advanced minimally invasive treatment options including robotic surgery. We will discuss the benefits and the risks of each of these approaches. Then once all your questions are answered, a treatment plan will be drawn that fits your needs and goals."
Endometriosis clinic
"Endometriosis is a common benign problem for women in their reproductive years. It occurs when the cells that line the uterus grow outside of the uterus. It can grow on the fallopian tubes, ovaries, other areas of the pelvis or other parts of the body. This tissue that is in abnormal locations with resultant inflammation and scarring can cause pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, severely painful periods, pain with intercourse, infertility or other symptoms. For many, the pain and other symptoms affect their daily lives. Unfortunately, it can take an average of 10 years before women in the US receive the correct diagnosis of endometriosis. Endometriosis is found in up to 50% of women presenting with infertility and up to 70% of women presenting with chronic pelvic pain.
Endometriosis treatment options will depend on your specific situation, your symptoms and your fertility goals. Multiple medical hormonal treatments are available and may be helpful in some situations. In other situations, surgery could be more suitable if you have severe pain not improving with medical treatment or problems with fertility caused by endometriosis. With surgery, we always plan on excision of endometriosis lesions."
Individualized treatment
"At the first office visit, we will review your specific situation and discuss your symptoms in detail. A pelvic examination might be recommended. We will then discuss the treatment options with you in detail. The goal is to offer you personalized care and lay out options regarding endometriosis treatment and to figure out the best treatment approach in your situation that most fits your needs and goals.
If surgery is the best option for you, we only use minimally invasive surgical techniques including robotic surgery. With robotic surgery, the surgeon is the one performing the surgery and in control at all times and we use smaller incisions, which reduce scarring and shorten recovery time. The robotic platform allows for magnified 3D vision which helps identify lesions of endometriosis. It also offers precision by taking all tremor away as well as wristed instruments which allows access to difficult locations to optimize excision of all endometriosis lesions."
